Let us focus on what God has created girls to be and what culture tells them to be. The issue of reality, beauty, and goodness is one that has intrigued men for centuries. The pagan philosophers find to spot that that will be Correct, Great, and Beautiful. This whole equilibrium of original justice was lost by the crime of our first parents. Developed in a situation of holiness, man was destined to be completely "divinized" by God in glory. But he chosen himself to God and disobeyed God's command.
Ergo, Adam and Eve instantly lost the acceptance of original holiness, and the equilibrium where they'd existed was destroyed. These were separated from Beauty Itself. God, however didn't abandon mankind, every one of whom reveal in the crime of Adam, since "by one man's disobedience all were made sinners" (Rom. 5:12). In the depth of time God delivered His Boy to replace that which have been lost. The Boy, who is "beautiful over the daughters of men," came to replace us to beauty.
Ergo, we turn now to beauty. Von Balthasar once remarked that after one is seeking to bring the others to God, he should begin with beauty since beauty attracts. Beauty will likely then lead to reality and goodness. Thus, if one will begin with beauty the other must know what beauty is. I will make a variation between two kinds of beauty, although only one is beauty in the truest sense of the definition. There is "seductive" beauty, that will be frequently reflected in our recent culture. This will entail whatsoever allures us to our self-destruction (morally or spiritually). It takes us away from what we were created for, union with Beauty Himself. This kind of beauty I will come back to, but first I wish to establish a meaning and correct understanding of what "true" beauty is. This is first and foremost whatsoever attracts us to our true fulfillment and happiness. In his guide The Beauty of Holiness and the Holiness of Beauty, John Saward, drawing on the task of St.Thomas Aquinas, describes beauty as: "the gleaming of the considerable or true kind that's found in the proportioned areas of a product things." Put simply, while you can find beauty in the outward appearance, one should go deeper to the character or the substance of the thing.
"Ergo, in a product substance (such as man) there is beauty when the substance of something shines obviously through their outward appearance." The wonder of one's soul can be thought to glow by way of a person's countenance. With this to occur, three points are necessary -wholeness (integrity), due proportion (harmony), and radiance (clarity). St. Thomas claims that three marks of beauty are found in Jesus. Radiance is found in Him since He is the Term of the Dad, and the Term permanently uttered by the Dad totally and perfectly conveys Him. He is the perfection of the Father's mind. Due proportion is found in the Boy of God since He is the perfect picture of the Father. As the perfect picture, He is heavenly beauty. Jesus has wholeness since He's in Himself the entire nature of the Father. In begetting the Boy, the Dad communicates the entire of His heavenly essence. Ergo, we have a Divine Person, God the Boy, who without ceasing to be true God, has been made true man for people in the Virgin's womb. When one sees the Virgin and the Child, one sees a witness to the Trinity. Pope John Henry II explains that photograph of Mother and Child "is really a silent but firm record of Mary's virginal maternity, and for that really purpose, of the Son's divinity."
It can be as this type of witness to the Trinity that enables Jane a unique place in connection to the Correct, the Great, and the Beautiful. The Gifted Virgin, said the fifteenth century poet John Lydgate, could be the "Fairest Mother that ever was alive." Many poets and artists have wanted to express their praise and admiration for Her who is so closely united to Divinity. When Dante reaches Heaven, he finds the sweetness of the Boy of God many perfectly reflected in Jane, of whom He was born. Ergo, we will have how Jane is to be for several, but specially girls, a style of true beauty, and hence, goodness and reality, as she shows a sharing in the life span of the Trinity. "All the sweetness for soul and body that the Boy of God brought in to the entire world, most of the loveliness He wanted to extravagant on mankind, is summed up in, and mediated by the person of His ever virgin Mother, 'a woman clothed with sunlight, the moon below her legs, and on her behalf head a crown of twelve stars' (Rev. 12:1).
