Many die-hard espresso roasting fanatics can tell you that baking espresso in a stove isn't the approach to take since it can lead to an unevenly roasting order of coffee. To them I say: You're both correct and wrong. Sure, the roast is going to be uneven. But that only increases the complexity of good flavors in the last pot of coffee. You will end up with the solid, rich flavors of a black roast followed by the soft, fruity flavors found only in a gentle roast. I've tried techniques that roast the espresso more equally and the resulting walk is just not as good.

Crank up your toaster stove to its highest temperature setting. The larger your toaster stove goes, the better it works because of this task.
